S.Y.P.H. - (untitled)

The fourth S.Y.P.H.-album has no title and offers little information - even the back side of the cover is blank. Here we have 4 short and 2 very long tracks from the sessions with Holger Czukay, probably mixed at a later date with only Czukay and Harry Rag present, because the mix has much more reverb than on the "Pst!"-album. Here we don't hear any songs but instead jams like on the second side of their first album. Probably some will call this some kind of Krautrock but that doesn't make sense to me. For me Krautrock was finished when punk arrived in Germany. Before it had two sides: on one hand you had all those German rock bands that tried to copy anglo-american rock music but failed more or less miserably. On the other hand there were those bands who tried to copy anglo-american hippie music but failed gloriously because they didn't know the anglo-american rules of blues and rock'n'roll. The anglo-american hippie band could never break away from these rules but for German hippies bands it was pretty easy because they grew up with classical european music. Most anglo-american music critics were too narrowminded to see any good in going beyond the rules of blues, rock and English musichall music (which was the main inspiration for British psychedelia), but when punk and post-punk freed their minds they could see the value of Krautrock too. Anyway this record hat nothing to do with Krautrock.
